For those who are new to the Reiki Path, or fairly new..... Because with Distance Attunements, we are pretty much responsible for a lot of the learning on our own, I thought it might be helpful to list some books available. I'm sure there are many more excellent books since I bought these, if others of our group wish to add to the list; but, this might be a beginning: 1. Reiki, A Torch In Daylight...Spiritual Reiki, by Karyn K. Mitchell N.D., Ph.D. ISBN number 0-9640822-1-7 2. Reiki, The Healing Touch...First and Second Degree Manual, by William Lee Rand ISBN number 1-886785-05-8 3. The Origional Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui by Dr. Mikao Usui and Frank Arjava Petter ISBN number 0-914955-57-8 These provide the history and thoughts to help understand Reiki Energy and Healing, have meditations to work with, very thoroughly show the basic hand positions, what specific areas of the body hold which dis-ease energy and the hand positions to help release and relieve discomfort, and many other things. These, or other books you find will help you build very solid understaning and to be more confident in the Attunements and your work with Reiki. From here, there are many other books available and much much material on-line to learn from! Take the time to begin learning this path you are choosing to open. The daily meditation to go within and create the open space for allowing this Attunement series should begin now. Sacred Space in whatever your belief system.......If candles, incense, special stones, and natural things of the Earth help your focus, create the table, or place to hold those things where you meditate. Know that these things are not what make the space sacred. The sacred connection comes from within you and your connection with the Divine. This is what you are building deeper, and setting the Intent that you wish to know the Reiki Energy, and make this new connection a part of your life, for blessing...for yourself and others...for the Highest Good. It will help, and most likely be a natural response, if you eat lighter, more nutritionally, drink water to clear the body and spirit, spend time outdoors with natural things, and be gentle with yourself as you are preparing to begin. If you are comfortable with it, moving of some type, whether walking, tai chi, qigong, or free form dance will also release things as the process begins. If actual movement seems too much right now, dance in your Spirit. It will make you smile, you will carry the infectiousness of Joy with you, and it will bring smiles to others' faces, simply to connect with the vibration you carry. Write if it comes, begin to record your journey...keep it on-going as you learn more and more, and yet more. What you learn that is your own process, will be the wisdom you can share with others when they ask how you found this way of living. Any others of our Reiki Masters and teachers if you have something to share here that will benefit those just begiining this new path, feel free to add. In our own physical group here in this area, we share books between us, and what we learn. In this way we learn much more than we could with only one working alone. Kiran's discalimer that Reiki is not meant to replace medical attention, or make claims is a good one! Reiki and other forms of Energy Work simply relax and can release the energy of events and conditions stored, or locked into areas of the body, allowing the body to be freer to make the energetic connections it needs to work within, and between, the systems. It can open up the pathways. Adrianna
