How to work with chakra's using Reiki Reiki is a very strong way to get in touch with whatever is causing your body unease, but it should never be used in place of an ongoing treatment, or in avoidance of western medicine. It however, can be used in conjunction towards full healing.
Emotional or health problems tend to occur in areas where Chakra (energy fields within the body) are disrupted or blocked. These disruptions can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives, such as: injury, emotional or physical trauma, negative thoughts and emotions, nutritional depletion or toxicity, destructive relationships or lifestyles, and neglect of the self or the lack of love for oneself or others. This energy is present all around us and can be accumulated and guided by the mind. Eastern medicine believes that when personal energy is low, or its flow blocked or constricted, that then a person is vulnerable to illness. Those who work with Eastern medicine diagnoses the flow of personal energy in order to restore the patient to health, if possible, depending on the person's karma {the force generated by one's inheritance, life choices and experiences}. There is a method that I happen to favor because it works on a very interapersonal level and is able to touch emotional and spiritual aspects that can cause physical imbalance this method is called Reiki.
Using Reiki as a Healing Conduit.
Reiki is capable of healing virtually anything because it works at a very fundamental level. Even though the capability is there, this is not what always happens. The limits to Reiki seem to be in the recipients willingness to cast off old habits and patterns, to accept change and to accept healing. Reiki operates in the underlying energy structure of matter, as the physical matter we see around us is a solidified form of energy. At the level where Reiki functions, anything can be changed because all is fluid and is very malleable. Or so is the theory and so is the experience of Reiki practitioners. Emotional difficulties are just as healable as physical ones since emotional issues are even more directly present in the energy structures.
In this context, the word healing has a somewhat different meaning from the widely accepted meaning. Healing generally means the curing of symptoms, for that seems to be what medical doctors and the like look to do in their practice. The other meaning for healing, used in the practice of Reiki as well as other related areas, is the return to greater wholeness. There is an ideal form each of us has, this ideal form being the highest and clearest expression of who we are. Pain or disease come from any deviation between one's current form in the physical world and this ideal form. Healing, then, is to bring this physical form into closer alignment with the ideal form. The way we acquire deviations from our ideal form is to accept limitations into our life.
These limitations are behavior patterns, eating patterns, physical limitations, imagined physical limitations, psychological, mental, or emotional ways of being, living, expressing or loving that is not in alignment with our personal highest expression. In any healing the goal is to find the limitation, recognize the pattern, recognize where it came from, and let it go. Reiki accomplishes this by providing the recipient enough energy to see all that and have the courage to let go. This usually does not happen consciously as a result of Reiki, but sometimes it does happen that Reiki gives the recipient the conscious awareness of the pattern and recognizing where it came from. Our lives are a constant flow of patterns of activity and it is our choice to have these patterns remain stuck in limited expression, or to release the old patterns and try new ones.

Eastern medicine feels that a patient's cures and sources of answers are within him; the healer merely helps the patient to allow the healing to occur naturally. Some effects of reiki manipulation have been reported to be lowering of blood pressure, strengthening of the immune system, reduction of pain, and decreased healing time of wounds. Western medicine has been uncomfortable with the idea that an individual with no medical training can do anything to change their physical situation.
Western medicine forces us to think that way; we typically say it is impossible if the concept does not fit into our experience, or even into our imagination. Nevertheless, in many parts of the this country, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is used as a complementary therapy in conjunction with Western medicine. Western medicine does indicate a great benefit to health in those activities which provide relaxation and reduction of stress, since stress is implicated in an increasing number of physical and emotional complaints and conditions. Some such recognized activities included exercise, meditation, and therapeutic touch. Insurance companies are now starting to fund some TCM, such as acupuncture, while considering including other modalities which work with TCM.
Modern scientific research does study the effects of changes in the human energy field(s), in the fields of biology, physics, psychology, and medicine. Taking the definition of both words together, the concept of Reiki is that of a universal life force which taps into a limitless source of energy which is aware and beneficial. Reiki, therefore, is a spiritually guided life force energy. It is described as a healing, loving, creative energy that flows throughout all creation. It is heart-centered: unconditional love through touch, meditation in action. It is unfamiliar in Western cultures, since touch has been used mostly for either hurting or for sex, sometimes the two simultaneously. Touching simply for healing is a new concept in the West.
