The 5 Precepts of Usui Reiki

(Kyo dake wa) Just for today :

(Okoru na*) Anger not

(Shinpai su na) Worry not

(Kansha shite) Be grateful and humble

(Gyo wo hage me) Work with appreciation

(Hito ni shinsetsu ni) Be kind to all

* The Japanese characters pronounced as okoru can also be pronounced as ikaru
- so we can say 'okoru na' or  alternatively 'ikaru na'

When we get attuned to Reiki, we were told to recite the Usui precepts! When i started off, it felt like reciting a creed. However, as i started to think more on the precepts and meditate on what is being said, i felt that these precepts actually helped me to better my energy flow and connection to Reiki!!

It starts with Just for Today. We are asked to live in the PRESENT. YESTERDAY has passed and TOMORROW is the future. So we should live in the present! Smiley "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." - Dalai Lama

Anger - generates negative energies. Hence, disrupts our energy flow. It does not mean that we should not be angry, but to reflect and to think how to resolve the situation in a more positive way! "Through violence, you may 'solve' one problem, but you sow the seeds for another." - Dalai Lama

Worry - We can't change the pass, we do not know the Future! "There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever." - Mahatma Gandhi . I guess when we worry, our energy will is used on non productive matters!

Be grateful and humble - When i started to be grateful of the things around me, i became happier. I am not ignoring problems. But i am learning to solve them in a more positive manner! There are times when i have a sense of gratefulness, i feel the energy flowing! I was told once.....When Ego Goes, Reiki Flows...humility... angel

Work with appreciation - I used to work in an environment filled with negativity and more than 15 hours a day!! I complained and never did enjoy the work. I guess Usui Sensei knew we all work and most of the times, our frustrations start from the work place and follows us home!!! Therefore, when we learn to appreciate what we have, we become happy......good energy flow...and people around us would be bless! Then comes forth harmony! I enjoy my work now (but still learning  laugh)!!

Be kind to all - From where i come from, people are nice until they get behind the wheel of the car. Driving conditions here are bad and not courteous! You would not want to hear what comes out of the mouth!! But as i learn to be kind to all (including animals) you get a sense of happiness, just doing something to help out someone! "Be kind whenever possible…It is always possible. " - Dalai Lama

As i try to practice these precepts, i feel better energy flow. I believe it conditions our mind to be more positive, with that we are easily connected to the Source and the flow of energy.

"I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace." - Dalai Lama

Could you share your experience of the Precepts/Principles with me!?  Smiley

Thank you  Smiley

Many blessings

Hi cupid95

Balance your chakras! Smiley

Well personally i also find it hard to meditate in the beginning..Smiley but start slow..maybe do a 5 minutes meditation and slowly increase from there.....with regular meditation, i guess you can also control your anger.

Sometimes a 5 mins meditation can help a lot.

Blessings
