Being attuned to reiki for a while now and practicing on myself and others, I've noticed that it is not required to think "reiki" or "reiki go!" in order to start the energy flow. But, it's come to my attention that there are several reiki systems that someone can be attuned to, like gold reiki, kundalini reiki, karuna reiki, etc. If we read a manual for kundalini reiki for example, the manual will instruct us to think 'kundalini reiki' for the energy start to flow. But we all can agree - I think - that these words hold no basis on the deeper energetic process that goes on.

So if someone is attuned to two reiki systems, how does someone actually intend to use either of the two systems? I suspect that all reiki systems are  the same thing, but varying in different intensities. Meaning if someone is attuned to Usui reiki and then is attuned to kundalini reiki, he still is attuned to the exact same system, but with the energy increased. I'm not sure though, it's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Does thinking 'dna reiki', 'kundalini reiki', 'karuna reiki' etc really activate different reiki systems (if we are attuned to them)?  It seems so unlikely to me.  I'd appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this one for me.

Thanks for your reply, though I still don't fully understand.  For example purposes I'm reading a kundalini reiki manual.  It is instructed that if you're attuned to KR1 you must think "reiki" to start the energy flow.  If you are attuned to KR2 and beyond, you must think "kundalini reiki" for the energy to flow.

If somebody is attuned both in Usui and Kundalini reiki, how would he intend to use either of the two systems?  I do understand what you're saying about intend, but in my experience I can't intend to switch on a particular system, simply because on an energetic level the energy appears to be the same.  Maybe there's something I'm missing.

I do understand what you're saying, about all energies coming from the same source.  But, different systems do have a difference (of course they do...or else they wouldn't have different labels...silly me  ).

But since kundalini reiki is what caught my attention, I am confused since in Usui reiki manuals, we are either instructed to use our intention or think "reiki" to call in the energy.  Yet in KR1, the exact same thing is said.  It is what's playing with my mind and why I'm digging this. 


Well in this case the manual is instructing us to think "reiki."  But something isn't right considering what I wrote above.

Sorry if I'm becoming stubborn.  Perhaps someone attuned both in Usui and Kundalini reiki solve the mystery?
