Interview with Patrick Zeigler, Sechim/Sekhem founder Wednesday, February 1, 2012
By Vlad T. Popescu Q: How you start?
A: Originally, I started to work with the system called Seichim. Many Reiki masters are connected with the Seichim. So, they teach Reiki and then they use Seichim as an advanced method.
Q: What can you tell me about your experience at the egyptian pyramids?
A: That’s when the things get started. I felt the light came out, I had a very powerful experience in pyramids and afterward I connected with the sufi group and that two kind of work together and help me to understand images and four years later I began to teach, in 1984.
Q: What happened the night that you’ve spent into the pyramid?
A: I could feel like a presence that came out and the energy above me, the energy came into my heart and I felt electricity all over my body and I remained in that state, then I came out and meet sufi. I had very interesting experiences flying over my body and traveling in different dimensions. I was an architect that time and when I came back to America I decided I needed to go and study spiritual healing and my whole life changed when I got into healing.
Q: Some said that energy was used by old priests…
A: Well, the Seichim as we call it, use the energy that comes from heaven into the body. So yes, they do. I don’t know if they used it the way we do, but the energy is very similar.
Q: What differences exists between Reiki and Seichim?
A: The way I teach now is very different than the way I was teaching years ago. What I teach today is really helping people be able to open their heart and they do it naturally. So, with Reiki you have really trained in had opened your heart.
Q: So when we talk about Seichim we make a connection with Reiki?
A: Yes, in a way, we do. In Seichim you don’t use symbols, just the energy. A very interesting aspect is that it works very much into the heart chackra, open the soul, curing the soul.
Q: So you don’t use hands.
A: No, just the intention. You just think what the problem is and you intend to cure the problem. You don’t use hands or heart and mind control. Energy just flows into the person. We have a group and the energy is more powerful because of the group. If there were a single person, the effect would not be so strong.
We work a lot with the emotion, feel comfortable with that emotion and comfortable with who you are and be able to express that feeling (by opening your heart, the energy will come their natural way). Many of the Reiki masters still do not know how to open their heart.
Q: But what can we do to feel?
A: Well, just say, you know, if you want to feel, let’s say come down and feel your heart. Some people might say “I don’t feel anything” or some people might say “I feel a little tickle” or maybe “I feel like it’s blocked” (then they feel like it’s covered) and they go a little deeper, keep feeling deeper and they’ve been in need to say something. Maybe there’s something you need to say to someone in particular, like you had a broken heart and maybe there’s something you need to say to him, or maybe there was something with your mother when you were quite young and she might have said something to you to make you feel not so good about yourself. You can come back and be that child and tell her what you’re feeling about it.
Q: What about our blocks?
A: You begin to go in and clear the area that the energy is feeling stuck. You see, there are many areas that energy gets stuck. And the people can go, get Reiki and do all this things but it really doesn’t move that energy in the same way because the block is holding it there (the anger or resentment or whatever is holding the energy and keeping the block not being resolved yet). So we ego in and have actually start to resolve their issue. And then, when we clear that, the energy starts to flow naturally.
Q: So, you can say that Seichim energy is better than Reiki energy?
A: Well, its different. You might not say one is better than the other because Reiki has a lot of value and, well, it is work. It’s just like say an apple is better than an orange. Some people like apple and some people like oranges. They’re just different.
Q: So, it’s better to do both…
A: Yes, and one of the things with what we do, we do have an energy we work with wich is very similar to Reiki and we can do both in the class. So, it does work together that way. We have an energetic side and then we have an emotional side. You wanna work on all the different levels. And Reiki can chose to focus on the energy way. When you get to a Reiki treatment, they do all the work for you. But this process its a combination of the both working together. So, when the both work together, than they do a more dynamic job. Because, all the sudan, you feel like, im doing it on my own by having a suport. Its a little like when a kid is runing a bike. When a child finally have the intend to bike on your own, he really feels good about it and he dont think so much about dad holding you on the back the whole time that you give him the really feel that they can do it on your own and then, before you know it, they’re running on your own and you never catch up jump. So that’s what we do. We try to empower people, support just enough to get up and running on your own.
Q: Do you belive in a past life existence?
A: My belive in that is very different in most. I feel the past life is very holographic and what that means, you can go and experience any life. What that means is that some people might say: „I was Cesar in a past life”, they have a real connection to that. How many people may say all the sudan that they were Cesar in a past life? How can that be possible that so many people can claim that in particular Cesar that they were that in a past life? And the reason is because if we have a strong connection to any personality in the past we can experience their life like it was your own. And this is why so many people have such experiences. It exists in the hologram. So, you can go back in any of the past life, experience them and actually the healing comes from any past life.
Q: Some said that you were a healer in a past life…
A: No, but the holograph, yes. I think that I could be any healer. You could be Jesus in a past life. And that’s what some people do. When you think about the bleeding comes out of the hands, what they do is they connect to Jesus so strongly that they become him. And then they start to bleed out of their hands. It’s interesting because they’re several theories about how Jesus was crucified. And one of the theories said that the bleed was coming out of the hands and another theory said that they did the crucifixion through the rips. If they believe that Jesus had it through the hands, than they did it on the palm.
Q: Do we all have a mission in this life? And if is so, what is yours?
A: Well, your mission is to have fun. Enjoy life! That’s the mission. A lot of people don’t realize what’s their mission and they don’t enjoy life enough. They don’t wanna be here and they live miserable. It’s a little like this life has got so many different things going on you have a choice (you can go to a movie, you can go to a love story and you can go to an adventure).
Q: What about the evolution? The Buddhist believes that evolution means to suffer. Is it true?
A: No, and that’s why some souls come get to suffer. It’s just like you can have a good life or you can go to a horror movie and you become frightened and it is a time when you walk out. So, if there’s somebody wants to come here and suffer, then they suffer. But in a particularly moment they wish they could change that. If there’s a war in your country, you have a choice: you can leave and become a refugee and live a very good life in another country and you can stay and possible get caught in a war and suffer. We do have a very big plan and there are a lot of very nice places where you don’t have to suffer. But sometimes you have to make that choice and say: do I wanna stay in a situation or do I wanna leave? In a marriage could be like that. You’re in a good marriage and say “ok, i stay in this marriage and live a happy life, but some people may be in a very bad marriage and they have to make a decision: do I stay here and suffer in this marriage or do I leave? It’s their choice. But sometimes they have a believe system that they have to suffer and say: “Well, I got to stay in this marriage, I’m not allowed, my religion says I can’t leave the marriage”, so they stay in this suffer. |

Q: Do you believe in life after death?
A: I believe that we are eternal. There’s a continue state of existence.
Q: But are you really sure?
A: The only way that I can verify that, of course, is if I was to die. But I do know that I can leave this body and I can go to other places, I can experience that. So I know that I can exists without this body. And a lot of people do this by traveling; they go into other places, other dimensions quite freely. And this is something that every human being can do. In a dream you go to other places and meet people and that state is something like a death because the death is almost like a dream state. And sometimes they don’t even realize they were dreaming. You may think you’re living a different life. So they may die and they may go into another state and don’t even realize that they are death.
Q: Did you try this?
A: I haven’t try it officially, but it happens that when you go into another world when you’re traveling (the soul traveling) In this point, you’re out of your body, you can see you’re out of your body physically, you can actually know that you don’t need to have a body. I say this from my experience outside the body. I haven’t actually died so I can’t say for certain, but that’s the case. But I do know from my experience that I can leave my body and I can come back. And there are people that had death experiences, that have been there clinically, and they leaved the body and then see the light but the thing is you don’t have to have a near death experience to experience that. Some people think that they do. It was a time when I did almost die but actually I had a more powerful experience when I was not dieing. So I chose to have a real death experience without having the real death.
Q: How can you leave the body?
A: People do it all the time every night. Every night you go to heaven. The thing is you don’t remember it all the time. Every single night you leave the body and then you come back and then you feel better. It’s a natural process. Because every night you leave the body but you don’t know how you do it. It could be an unconscious level. And the technique that can help you become conscious.
Q: Isn’t it a little dangerous?
A: No, you do it every night; it’s a part of who you are. If you believe it’s dangerous, then it could be dangerous. But don’t tell anybody that it’s dangerous and it won’t know anybody and it wont be a problem.
Q: So it’s all about the power of mind…
A: Yes.
Q: The church is talking all the time about heaven and hell. Are these just simple concepts or do we have to see beyond them?
A: Heaven and hell is a little like this world.
Q: Do we have to be frightened about the hell fire that church is talking about?
A: Let’s say that you had a lot of stress throughout the day, and you don’t take a good care of yourself, when you go to sleep what kind of dreams do you have? Bad dreams.
And if you’re really helping people and loving people what kind of dreams do you have?
Sweet dreams.
So it’s the same way if you live a good life, a peaceful life, when you die, you go into a dream state, a very nice state because you’re feeling good. If you don’t feel good about yourself then you will go into a place like hell. And you will suffer.
Q: But what kind of place is that?
A: It’s like a bad dream. It’s like going into a bad dream and have no way to wake up. It’s like going into a nightmare. You don’t have the choice to wake up.
So you don’t have any chance to get out of there.
It’s like a dream world. You learn and you experience. So eventually yes, you can.
Q: How?
A: By experience. You learn things in a dream world just like you were here. The nice thing about this planet, being here, is that things can happen much quicker than you would in the other world because you have a completely set of rules. In the other world you can get stuck in that and may be hard for you to get out of it, and that’s why we’re calling hell. So it’s your own creation.
Q: So it’s the power of faith…
A: Yes. You see, the key of all of this is that you truly believe that you can change anything in your life, then you go into a place like that and you can say: “I can change it.” It’s like in this life. If you’re not happy, then you don’t believe you can change it, then you’re gonna stay in that bad situation. It’s all about faith and really knowing that you can change and create the world the way you want to be.
Q: Can we predict the future?
A: We create the future. Let’s just say that if everybody feels like there’s going to be a judgment day, and then we create that. If people believe it’s going to be a war strong enough, they create that. So you have to be very careful about the things that you are thinking about.
Q: How can we get real love and compassion?
A: We can get real love and compassion by systems like Reiki and Seichim.
Most of the systems are there to give you support. And you can use any system the way that you wish. The reason that church has been around for so long is to give people that hope that they can change their life. Any religion that you chose, you can have that. Or you can have no religion and chose a new age type of therapy. It give you a new hope and you say: „Oh, i could change my life!” The Reiki is not that old. The thing that I really like about Reiki was that for the first time, it gave people hope that they could heal other and heal themselves in a very quick and easy way. So, that concept really wasn’t available for a lot of people like they never thought about „I can go and take a week of course and all the sudan i can change my health over night and i can help other people to do that. Gee, i got energy, coming out of my hands.” That paricular easy concept was never there before.
Q: What message do you have for those who don’t have a spiritual life yet?
A: If you’re happy with the life that you currently have, and maybe you don’ know anything about a spiritual life and you live in a happy state of life you’re living a spiritual life anyway but you don’t know it. If you’re not happy and you wanna change that, then maybe it’s good for you to develop a spiritual life so it can help, encourage you, give you the hope to get out of that life that you’re not happy with…
SEICHIM (SEKHEM) (English pronunciation Say KH’em) is an ancient Egyptian energy healing modality re-introduced in 1984 by Patrick Zeigler. Seichim is a form of complementary therapy or alternative healing, utilizing a form of hands on healing, as well as distant healing. Through the use of this technique, practitioners believe they are transferring universal energy in the form of Sekhem, the name of energy in ancient Egypt. The word Sekhem is similar to the equivalent of the Chinese Chi or Japanese Ki. The main difference between Sekhem and other energies is that Sekhem has a very strong connection to many of the Gods and Goddesses of Egypt. It is also used as a suffix to many names of people in a position of power in ancient Egypt.
Because the original Seichim was taught without a manual, the classes all followed the oral tradition of teaching. Consequently, each teacher taught in their own way. As a result, a variety of different styles were developed and different spellings of “Seichim” were introduced. The three main spellings were Seichim, Sekhem and Seichem.
