Unlike Aromatheray the flowers or twigs etc. used in Bach Flowers are not aromatic or odorous. The essence is the soul or spirit of the plant. Sun is one of the best emitters of Reiki and thus Bach Flowers can be thought of as specific colors of Reiki as captured by the flowers and plants.
Since each essence is linked to some thoughts of the human psyche (other pets and higher animals also respond similarly), it is like adding specific colors or sounds (missing frequencies) to reestablish the harmony.
It is also interesting to note that one of the theories of how Bach Flower Essences work talks of the essences bridging the connection between the individual and the Higher Self (universe or God). I would say rather similar to Reiki and attunements.
